Captain Neil G. Sexton,

Capt. Neil G. Sexton, from Indianapolis, Indiana, received his commission through the U.S. Naval Academy in 1995.

At sea, he served as electrical officer, auxiliaries officer and main propulsion assistant aboard USS Ticonderoga (CG 47), homeported in Pascagoula, Mississippi. In his next sea tour, he served as assistant operations officer for Amphibious Squadron 11, embarked with USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3) in Sasebo, Japan.

Sexton's waterfront maintenance assignments ashore include: ship superintendent for several availabilities at Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC); dive officer, docking officer and assistant officer in charge at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center Det. Bahrain and Commander Task Force 53; salvage officer for U.S. 5th Fleet; deputy project superintendent for USS Boise (SSN 764) and USS Newport News (SSN 750) availabilities at Norfolk Naval Shipyard; and officer in charge at SRF-JRMC Det. Sasebo.

Most recently, he served as deputy commander at Northwest Regional Maintenance Center and production resources officer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility.

Sexton's staff assignments include: course director at the Engineering Duty Officer School; assistant business and strategic planning officer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard; section head for afloat readiness at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, assessment division; and executive assistant for Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command.

Academic accomplishments include a bachelor's degree in oceanography from U.S. Naval Academy and a master's degree in applied physics from the Naval Post Graduate School. Following graduate studies, he attended the Diving and Salvage Training Center where he qualified as a dive officer.

His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
