  Command Master Chief Dwight Clarke was born and raised in Jamaica and migrated to Queens, New York in 1987. He entered the Naval service in August 1992 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command in Orlando, Florida. He then reported to apprenticeship training, where he completed the aviation apprenticeship course before reporting to the fleet.

  His first sea assignment was aboard USS Guam (LPH 9) from 1992 to 1997. During this tour, he was assigned to the flight deck as the fly 2 petty officer and advanced to petty officer third class and then to second class. From 1997 to 1999, he was stationed aboard USS Nassau (LHA 4), where he was assigned to the flight deck as fly 2 petty officer. In 2002, he reported to USS George Washington (CVN 73) and made multiple deployments to the Persian Gulf in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. During this tour, he was selected to chief petty officer. From 2006 to 2008, he reported aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, where he served in the aviation support personnel division as the flight deck chief and in the V3 division as the hangar deck leading chief petty officer from 2006 to 2008. From 2011 to 2014, he served aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the V3 division’s leading chief petty officer. During this tour, he was selected to senior chief petty officer.

  CMDCM Clarke’s shore duty assignments include Naval Air Station Oceana Air Det. Norfolk from 1999 to 2002, where he served as shift supervisor and leading petty officer for the transient line. During this assignment, he was selected for advancement to petty officer first class. His second shore assignment was at Naval District Washington from 2008 to 2011. During this tour, he was assigned as the leading chief petty officer for the regional transient personnel department.

  While stationed aboard George Washington, CMDCM Clarke was selected for the command senior chief program and went on to serve as the top enlisted for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 20 from October 2014 to November 2016. During this tour, he was selected to master chief petty officer and went on to serve as the command master chief for Electronic Attack Squadron 130, where he made a campaign deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In June 2019, he reported to Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center in Yokosuka.

  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), and various campaign, unit and service awards. He earned his associate degree in general studies from Central Texas College.
