Sasebo Detachment Officer In Charge

Commander Eric Williams enlisted in the Navy in 1990 as a Nuclear Field Electrician’s Mate. He was selected for the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1992.

CDR Williams received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Transportation and Logistics from The Ohio State University in 1997. He served two tours as a Surface Warfare Officer-- Gunnery Officer / Force Protection Officer on USS DAVID R RAY (DD 971) and the Auxiliaries Officer on USS McCLUSKY (FFG 41). CDR Williams attended the Naval Postgraduate School, receiving a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in March 2004. CDR Williams was selected to lateral transfer to the Engineering Duty Officer community in 2002.

His EDO assignments include Project Manager and Production Officer while assigned to SRF-JRMC Det, Sasebo from 2004-2007. His next assignment was Trials Board Manager while at INSURV from 2007-2009 and various duties at NNSY from 2009-2010. He served as Project Manager and CVN/Amphib Division Head at Norfolk Ship Support Activity from 2011-2014.

CDR Williams completed an IA tour in Iraq in 2007 and an AFPAK Hands tour in Afghanistan from 2010-2011. He is now the Officer in Charge of SRF-JRMC Detachment Sasebo.

CDR Williams’ personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards) and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
