Command Master Chief

Master Chief Shane T. Lazio was born in Omaha, NE and graduated from Northwest High School in 1984. He enlisted in the Navy in April 1984 and attended Recruit Training and Apprenticeship 'A' School at Great Lakes, IL from December 1984 to April 1985.
He initially reported to his first duty assignment on USS MOUNT HOOD (AE 29) in Concord, CA, where he worked in Stream Division and cross rated from Seaman to Fireman. After advancing to Petty Officer Third Class he transferred in January 1989 to USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) where he participated in Operation Classic Resolve.
In 1990, after completing a world tour, his ship did a homeport change to Newport News, VA, where he was command advanced to Petty Officer Second Class.
In March 1993, he transferred to Navy Recruiting District Omaha, NE where he completed a successful tour and was later advanced to Petty Officer First Class.
Master Chief Lazio's next assignment was to USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) where he deployed in November 1998 in support of RIMPAC 98', and later qualified for the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist pin and was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer. After the September 2001 terrorist attack his ship was deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
He reported to the Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity in San Diego, CA in October 2002, where he served as a Ship Superintendent for DDG and FFG Class ships. He was later selected and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. It was here where he trained and mentored future Chief Petty Officers through the Induction Season process.
In December 2005, Master Chief Lazio was transferred to USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) and Carrier Strike Group ELEVEN, where he later attended the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, RI. He was later selected for and advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Lazio's decorations include four Navy and Marine Corps Medals, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and numerous other campaign awards.
